Light is blocked by an off axis solar filter with only a small bit of light to come through off center. With this reduction of the aperture, the image doesn’t become darker but instead, daytime visibility of atmospheric turbulence is minimized. This style is less expensive than a full aperture solar filter.
There is an aluminum cell with this premium solar filter which has been centered and secured to the telescope’s end with felt padding and nylon thumb screws. For best results, the position of the filter should be as near the 12 o’clock position as possible. The off axis aperture is made from glass that is hand selected, high quality with reflective coating that has been thoroughly inspected. This glass is made of durable, high quality, making it the best choice on the market today. There is a yellowish-orange natural look when viewing the sun through this filter, which can also be used to directly view through your telescope or for photographs. In addition to seeing a solar eclipse, you will also be able to see granulation and sunspots too.
This filter will come in a foam lined box that is placed in plastic, all providing protection from handling during shipping. This box can also be used for storing your filter when you aren’t using it and there are thorough instructions on how to care and use the filter.
